At Flashpoint Firearms we strive to provide fast, reliable, convenient and hassle free FFL transfers to the Northern Illinois and surrounding areas.  If you are purchasing a firearm online we can help to make the process simple and hassle free.

Is there a fee for an FFL transfer?
Yes we do have a transfer fee charge - this covers our processing your firearm along with running your background check. Please contact us for our current transfer fees.

How does the FFL Transfer Process Work?

• Purchase your firearm online and select us as your FFL dealer.

  • If the seller requests a copy of our FFL, we ask that you email us at flashpointfsg@gmail.com with your order number and the email the seller is requesting our FFL be sent to. We will verify that the seller has a FFL as we require firearms shipped to our store come from another FFL.

• Once the firearm is shipped please wait for us to call and let you know we have received it as it can take up to 24 hours for us to receive it into our system. 

• After we call to let you know your firearm is ready; you can come in and fill out your 4473 and we will run your background check.

  • Please remember to bring your FOID card, DL (or other government issued ID & a copy of your online order confirmation so we can confirm the date purchased (this copy will also stay with our paperwork to show the purchase date of when the waiting period started)

  • An important thing to remember - the person who’s name is on the order is who must fill out the 4473 NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

• Illinois law requires that all customer’s have a 72 hour waiting period. 

  • We have been given guidance to this that when an order is placed online the date the firearm is purchased (order confirmation is given to you in an email) can be used to start your 72 hour waiting period.  We do request that you bring a copy of this in when you fill out your 4473 so that we can confirm and keep record of the purchase date.

• Background Check Important Note:

  • If we do not get an approval for your background check (even if you have waited the 72 hours since your purchase) we will need to wait for an approval before you can receive your firearm.  If this is the case once we receive an approval we will give you a call and let you know you can come in to pick up your firearm.

  • If we do receive an approval (and we have your order confirmation to show you have waited the mandatory Illinois waiting period) you will be able to take possession of your firearm.
